Frequently Asked Questions

Will I definitely see dolphins on the tour?

We visit areas where dolphins are regularly seen, and sightings are very common—but as they are wild animals, we can’t guarantee it. However, most of our guests do spot dolphins, and many get the chance to swim near them when conditions allow.

Are your tours eco-friendly?

Yes! We follow ethical wildlife guidelines, avoid chasing dolphins, and use sustainable fishing practices. We believe in protecting the ocean while sharing its beauty with our guests.

Unfortunately many current tourism practices can cause distress and disruption to the animals. Guidelines have been established to help minimize stress on dolphins, while still supporting local livelihoods and promoting the conservation of the local dolphin population.

Can I swim with the dolphins?

Yes, when the dolphins are calm and conditions are right, we allow you to enter the water (in a calm manner – no jumping in and splashing!) to swim near them. We always prioritize respectful and ethical interactions, never chasing or stressing the animals.

What should I bring?

We recommend bringing:

Camera (ideally waterproof, or have a waterproof case for your phone!)

Swimwear and a towel

Coral Reef-friendly sunscreen

Hat and sunglasses

Waterproof bag for personal items

Tip: We do not have children’s life jackets available. If you are bringing your kid(s), please inform us in advance. we do not recommend bringing kids below the age of 5.

How long are the tours?

The duration of the tour will vary depending on wave and weather conditions, and also some on your own preferences.

Dolphin Tour: ~2–3 hours

Vanishing Island Tour: ~3-4 hours

Combination Tour: ~5–6 hours

Fishing Trip: ~3–4 hours

The dolphin tour/combination tour are the hardest to predict when it comes to duration. Dolphins are wild animals, and we cannot know for sure where they are. We leave from Kizimkazi Dimbani, and usually head along the reef break down towards the southern tip of the island, as this is where the dolphins usually spend time during the morning. Sometimes we drive for 15 minutes to find them, other times it can take up to an hour. How long the tour lasts will therefore be very dependent on where we find the dolphins.

Payment

Cash on Arrival

We prefer payment in cash, which has to be paid directly to the boat driver before the tour. You can pay using Tanzania shillings (Tsh) or equivalent amount in USD or Euros.

You would need to withdraw money before the tour or on the way, as there are no ATMs in Kizimkazi village.

Children

Children over 5 years old

Children over 5 are welcome, but we do not recommend bringing kids below the age of 5. Depending on the seasons and the weather, it can be a bit wavy out at sea, which may be scary for kids who are not used to being on a boat. We also do not have children’s life jackets available. If you are bringing your kid(s), please inform us in advance.
